Project Cognoma is an open source project to create a webapp for analyzing cancer data. We're a community-driven philanthropic project that began as a collaboration between the Greene Lab, DataPhilly, and Code for Philly. While many contributors are based in the Philadelphia area, anyone anywhere is welcome to join.

What kinds of help are we looking for?
We're looking for software development help through GitHub. Design, frontend, and backend tasks are currently at the top of our list. The project uses Python for the backend and angular for the frontend. If you're interested in helping, introduce yourself at https://git.io/v65k6. Then find the most relevant Cognoma repository and open a new issue requesting a task! Or you can help by reviewing open pull requests. Our project motto is "everyone learns something new", so don't be afraid to contribute outside of your comfort zone.
Can you be based remotely to help? Yes! Can collaborate from anywhere in the world.
Who do I get in touch with if I want to help out? It's best to introduce yourself right at this link: https://git.io/v65k6 - but if you have specific questions, you can contact Daniel Himmelstein at daniel.himmelstein(at)gmail.com
